9 December 2006all, bangkok, post locationso about three weeks ago, i went for the weekend up to saraburi with p’wan, p’nut, p’bpu and p’elle …. this time of the year there are huge fields of sunflowers in bloom all over the place. well there were supposed to be at least. last year there were huge fields all over the place, this year most of the fields had been converted into sugarcane fields, but we still have a bunch left to go takes pics in.
we drove up sat evening, spent the night in a hotel and then got up really early to go see the sunflowers before it got too hot. on the way home we stopped at this temple dedicated to taking care of people with HIV. all week we had collected money from people at the yoga studio so that we could make a big donation up there. p’nut and p’bpu also brought lots of supplies that were in need too. if anyone in usa happens to read this before you see me and would like to send along a donation, you can give it to me and i will pass it along in jan. $25 usd is 1000 bhat which makes for a huge donation … the temple has very little money, but still operates a hospital, end of life care, schools for HIV- students who have lost their parents, and lots of other programs.
a big bus full of soliders on the way up, somehow they didn’t want me to jump on board
the outside of the house we rented in saraburi
me in the middle, p’nut on top, p’elle on the left and p’wan on the right
so they are growing wine in thailand now, not sure how it tastes but the fields remind me of california
