In an organized society we have the hospital, school, police station, the law courts. But after all these things are dealt with there is a still a gap inside of everyone which can only be filled by reading, listening to music, writing poetry, making art, looking at art.

In the almost five years that I have spent living in Bangkok, I’ve grown to love a city which has world-class hospitals and one of the highest standards of education in South-East Asia.

The thing that this country is sorely missing is a wide-spread appreciation for the arts and the role that they can play in our lives (honestly the same could be said for USA). When we spend time looking at a piece of art and trying to understand what the artist intended to create, we are forced to use critical thinking skills. This very same thing happens when creating art, using critical thinking skills we have to decide how to communicate the message that we want to get across. This doesn’t mean that art is only for a select few people, rather is accessible to anyone who wants to spend time thinking about it.

แต่สิ่งที่เมืองไทยยังขาด คือคนที่ชื่นชมและเห็นคุณค่าของงานศิลปะ (ไม่ต่างจากอเมริกา) เมื่อเราชมงานศิลปะ เราต้องใช้การวิเคราะห์เพื่อทําความเข้าใจสิ่งที่ศิลปินต้องการสื่อสาร เช่นเดียวกับการสร้างสรรค์งานศิลปะ ที่ต้องใช้การพินิจพิเคราะห์เพื่อสื่อสารความคิดผ่านชิ้นงาน
ศิลปะ ไม่ได้เป็นเรื่องของคนเฉพาะกลุ่มแต่เป็นเรื่องของทุกคนที่สนใจและต้องการทําความ

Developing critical thinking skills help us to understand much more than a photograph or a painting. The same skills help us do things like decide if news items are accurate or not, to understand if politicians are telling the truth or not and to understand the way that we impact society.

การพัฒนากระบวนการคิด ไม่เพียงช่วยให้เข้าใจรูปวาดหรือภาพถ่าย นอกจากนั้นยังช่วยพัฒนาทักษะอื่นๆ อย่างเช่น เข้าใจระบบการนําเสนอข่าว และวิเคราะห์ได้ว่านักการ
เมืองพูดจริงหรือไม่ รวมทั้งช่วยให้เข้าใจว่า เรามีผลกระทบต่อสังคมอย่างไร

Thailand is at an important turning point, one that can go in a positive direction if people stop and think before speaking or acting.

My exhibition, Ram, which opens on Saturday June 5th at Kathmandu gallery, focuses on two important ways which society can develop. Being a higher-education facility, Ram teaches critical-thinking skills to over 100,000 students. Being artwork about a higher-education facility, it challenges viewers to think about the message I am trying to communicate with each photograph. For this reason, none of the pieces are titled. Spend some time with each one, think about why I framed it like I did, think about why I decided that the lighting was appropriate and think about what it stands for to you.

ณ ตอนนี้ ประเทศไทยมาถึงจุดเปลี่ยนที่สำคัญ เราจะเดินไปในด้านบวกได้ หากทุกคนหยุดคิดก่อนที่จะพูดหรือทําอะไร

‘ราม’ นิทรรศการของผม เปิดวันเสาร์ที่ ๕ นี้ ซึ่งมีประเด็นเกี่ยวข้องการพัฒนาสังคม ๒ ประเด็นด้วยกัน อย่างแรก มหาวิทยาลัยรามคำแหงสอนให้นักศึกษากว่า ๑๐๐,๐๐๐ คน คิดเป็น
และอย่างที่สอง ภาพถ่ายแต่ละภาพไม่มีชื่อ จึงเป็นการท้าทายให้ผู้ชมวิเคราะห์ถึงข้อความที่ผม
อยากจะสื่อสารผ่านภาพถ่ายแต่ละภาพ ผมอยากให้ทุกๆ คน ใช้เวลากับผลงานแต่ละชิ้น
พิจารณาว่าเพราะอะไรผมจึงเลือก subject นั้นๆ และคุณคิดว่ามันหมายความว่าอย่างไร
